Volunteer at Placer SPCA

Volunteering at the Placer SPCA

Our volunteers are the lifeline of our work. If you love animals and want to make a difference in their lives, please join our amazing team of dedicated volunteers! Whether you help hands-on with the animals, assist in special projects, or contribute to the success of our fundraising events, YOU help make an impact. For many years running, we have been voted “Best Place to Volunteer” by STYLE Magazine’s Readers Choice Awards.

In order to become a volunteer at the Placer SPCA, you must attend a Volunteer Orientation class. If at the end of the orientation you decide that Placer SPCA is the right fit for you, we will ask you to complete a volunteer application. A $25 fee ($35 for Jr. Teams – see below) will be collected at this time. CASH ONLY, PLEASE. This fee covers the cost of a t-shirt, name badge and all training materials needed for your volunteer service.

All volunteers are expected to make the commitment of four hours of volunteer service per month. If at any point a volunteer reaches four months of inadequate volunteer time, that volunteer will become inactive.

Read our Volunteer Handbook here.

Become a Jr. Team

If you are between 13-17 years of age, you may enter our Volunteer Program as a Jr. Team with a parent or legal guardian. As a Junior Team, you may participate in most volunteer opportunities, including training, dog walking, and cat or critter socialization.

Jr. Teams require the complete participation of your parent or legal guardian and must be present at all times, including Volunteer Orientation, all training sessions, and during any volunteer service.
