Found a Pet?
Thank you for opening your heart to help a lost animal. If the pet seems injured or in need of medical care, please take them to the nearest animal hospital. If the animal appears otherwise healthy, please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Take the pet to a local veterinarian or animal shelter
Veterinary clinics and animal shelters can scan the animal for a microchip. Hopefully this will result in a happy reunification with its owner.
If you reside in the City of Roseville, you can report a found pet to Roseville Animal Services by calling (916) 774-5090. If the pet is injured and in need of medical assistance, please take the pet to Veterinary Specialty Hospital (1901 Douglas Blvd., Roseville, CA 95661) or call (916) 783-4655.
Step 2: Contact your local animal shelter
If there is no microchip or ID tag that provides owner information, please contact your local animal shelter and provide them with as much detailed information as possible. This can include identifiable traits such as breed, sex, color or special markings, approximate weight, etc.
If the animal was found within the City of Roseville, please complete a Found Cat, Found Dog or Found Critter form and submit it to guestservices@placerspca.org, and bring the animal to our Intake Center at 150 Corporation Yard Road, Roseville, CA.
Step 3: Search and post online
Create posts on Facebook Lost & Found pages, Petco Love Lost, PetFinder, PawBoost and other online sites dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their families.
Step 4: Create and share flyers
Flyers should be posted in the area in which the pet was found. Be sure to include the date you found the animal.
Step 5: Confirm proof of ownership
Before reuniting a missing pet with its “owner,” please feel free to ask for any identifying descriptions that can provide proof of ownership, including photos, the animal’s name, etc.
