School Programs
NEW! Our Humane Education Department is now offering field trips at the Placer SPCA Adoption & Education Center in Roseville.
Each field trip provides age-appropriate presentations plus a tour to see the animals. You may pick a program from the following list or we can work with you to create a custom presentation.
Program topics include:
- Safety Around Dogs
- Basic Pet Care and How to Keep Your Pets Healthy, Happy and Safe
- Care, Respect and Responsibility Toward People and Animals
- Someone Else’s Shoes: Empathy and Compassion for People and Animals
- What is a Habitat and Who Needs it?
- Overpopulation: Cats, Cats and More Cats!
- How Animals Enhance People’s Lives
- About Placer SPCA and How You Can Help
While our field trips are free, we encourage and welcome students to bring donations for our animals as a lesson in giving to those in need. Possible items include:
- New, unopened dog or cat food
- Blankets
- Toys for dogs and cats
- Wooden chew toys for rabbits
We can also work with you to prepare a presentation that is appropriate for your specific class. All presentations are designed to meet the California education requirement to teach kindness toward domestic pets and the humane treatment of living creatures.
If you would still like a presentation but cannot book a field trip, we would be happy to schedule a classroom presentation.
To schedule a field trip or classroom presentation, please complete a request form and submit to humaneedu@placerspca.org. For more information please call (916) 872-6175.
