Her name is Honey

Her name is Honey, and her story will break your heart… and make you smile.

Honey, an 8 year old lab mix, was brought to the Placer SPCA as a stray with a flea collar, but no identification, by a Good Samaritan. When she came to our center, she was in obvious pain with a gaping wound on her side. We’ll never know how that severe cut was inflicted.

Unsure of the cause of her injuries, but recognizing the pain Honey was experiencing, we immediately sought medical attention. The veterinarian performed surgery and we began searching for her family. We whispered gently to her and stroked her head as Honey received critical first aid.

Thanks to caring friends who support the Placer SPCA, we gave Honey a new chance at life.

After the wound was sutured and Honey was given the appropriate antibiotics, she was placed up for adoption. It didn’t take long for Honey to find a new home with a loving family. We named her Honey because of her sweet and happy disposition.

We’re sharing Honey’s story because we hope you’ll help the Placer SPCA come to the aid of more animals like her. So many animals come to us each year – many of them sick, injured, and desparately in need of tender loving care.

The love we give is free and comes from the heart. But the shelter, the nourishing food, the veterinary care and daily supplies cost money. We urgently need your support to ensure that we can continue our work on behalf of homeless and helpless animals. Your tax-deductible gift will help provide:

  • Medical care for injured, abandoned, and endangered dogs and cats
  • Shelter for thousands of homeless and lost animlas
  • Pet adoptions to loving homes
  • Reunions between lost pets and their families
  • Spay/neuter services
  • Microchip clinics, referral services, and much more
