Fetching Memories
Coco arrived at Placer SPCA never having had a family and hoping for a forever home with people who would love her. Adopting Coco (then called Daisy) required patience, understanding, and unconditional love to help socialize and integrate her into her new life.
Bob and Dawn relocated to Placer County in 1999 and quickly connected with Placer SPCA and the animals rescued here. “As a child growing up on a farm, my best friends were animals,” said Dawn. “They knew all my secrets and comforted me.” Supporting a local animal organization had always been important to her and Bob, so when it came time to adopt, they knew exactly where to find their new furry friend.
They wanted to give an animal who had a rough start in life a safe and caring environment, knowing how much love they would receive in return. “Animals provide us with healing from day-to-day frustrations. After a horrible day at the office, they love you unconditionally,” said Bob.
After Coco’s adoption, Dawn and Bob continued to connect with Placer SPCA’s CEO, Leilani Fratis. They knew that their regular donations were being used responsibly to help animals in the community. When they heard about the new Veterinary and Foster Care Center, they jumped at the chance to support the campaign with a gift, which came with a special naming opportunity. Dawn and Bob are also members of our Circle of Hope legacy society, joining others whose gift as part of their estate ensures a brighter future for animals in need.
