Vaccinations & Microchips
The Placer SPCA recommends having your dog or cat microchipped, even if they typically remain indoors. During a move, a trip, or during times of unusual activity in your home, your pet may be more likely to run outside and become disoriented. When your pet has a microchip, an animal shelter or veterinary clinic can obtain your contact information by scanning the chip and requesting the information from the manufacturer.
Low-cost rabies/microchip clinics are available on a monthly basis at Placer SPCA’s Companion Animal Care Center in Roseville. During the clinics, rabies vaccines are $10 and microchips are $15.
If you are unable to attend one of our low-cost clinics, the Placer SPCA offers microchips for $20 during regular business hours. No appointment necessary.
Please note: If your pet already has a microchip, be sure to keep your information current with the manufacturer when you move or change phone numbers. Placer SPCA will scan your pet for free to determine if they already have a microchip.
Even during the hot summer months, please know that you and your pet will be required to wait outside or in an air-conditioned car prior to entering the clinic. Clinics are subject to cancellation due to weather. Thank you.
