Pawsibilities Are Endless

Envisioning A New Veterinary & Foster Care Center

For over 50 years, Placer SPCA has played a compassionate role in our community by matching homeless pets with those searching for a companion, reuniting lost pets with their owners, and enabling struggling families and individuals to keep their pets when times are tough. We are building an 8,800 square foot facility to benefit pets and their owners in our community.

Together, we can do more! The Pawsibilities are Endless.

You can extend a caring hand to the vulnerable animals in our communities.

Our furry friends deserve the very best care, and that’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our brand-new Veterinary and Foster Care Center. It’s more than just a facility; it’s a safe haven where compassion meets expertise.

Imagine a place where injured, and sick, homeless animals will receive the life-changing medical attention they so desperately need. Imagine a center that will serve as a lifeline for pet owners facing tough times. A place offering affordable, accessible veterinary care, where we will do all we can to ensure Placer County’s pets receive necessary wellness treatment despite financial constraints. Our vision is that by supporting pet owners in need, we can reduce the heartbreaking number of surrendered pets that come in at our intake facility.

Why does Placer SPCA need a new Veterinary and Foster Care Center?

  • The existing veterinary care facility was created in 2007 by repurposing cramped offices and storage areas into exam, surgery, and recovery rooms.
  • Our current space hinders care due to the facility’s layout, lack of space, inadequate ventilation systems, and age.
  • Placer County’s rapid expansion, combined with a critical shortage of veterinary service providers, has created an animal welfare crisis in our community.
  • Our limited dental care area strains necessary services; over half of our incoming pets urgently need dental attention, including extractions.
  • Dogs and cats share recovery space, intensifying the stress of post-surgery recuperation due to spatial constraints.

How will my gift make a difference?

Your generous contribution today paves the way for expanded animal care! With the new Veterinary and Foster Care Center, we can:

  • Provide vital assistance to community pet owners in need of affordable veterinary wellness care.
  • Quadruple the number of life-saving surgeries our dedicated veterinarians can perform.
  • Expand our services to include wellness exams, spay/neuter procedures, vaccinations, microchipping, dental treatments, and preventative care for heartworm and fleas.
  • Welcome transfer animals from overcrowded shelters, offering them a fresh start.
  • Alleviate the pressures faced by local families and veterinarians alike.

Designed by Animal Arts, a respected architectural firm specializing in creating compassionate animal welfare spaces, the new building ensures every furry friend receives the care they deserve.

Your support drives this level of care.

Why Now?

Now is the optimal moment to embark on the creation of a new Veterinary and Foster Care Center. The demand for affordable pet care is greater than ever and is expected to rise. This center will enhance the access to care, ease the burden on our dedicated veterinarians, and ultimately, save countless animal lives.

Enthusiastic backing for this project is already evident, highlighted by an early $1 million contribution from an anonymous donor. Community support for Placer SPCA’s Veterinary and Foster Care Center is indispensable. You can invest in our ongoing ability to deliver exceptional, compassionate care and services that address the increasing animal welfare needs of Placer County. We would like to extend a special thank you to all of the generous supporters who have already made a donation, without their support we would not be so close to realizing this dream!
