Volunteering at the Placer SPCA
With up to 4,000 animals to care for across three facilities, and a limited staff, volunteers are the lifeline of our work. Volunteer jobs vary widely, depending on availability and interest. Both ongoing and one-time projects are available – and help is always needed.
We are proud to consistently have a dedicated group of more than 1,200 volunteers each year, who together, donate nearly 90,000 hours to animals in need. We are especially proud that they seem to value us as much as we value them. For many years running, we have been voted “Best Place to Volunteer” by STYLE Magazine’s Readers Choice Awards.
If you love animals and would like to make a difference in their lives, please join our amazing team.
In order to become a volunteer at the Placer SPCA, you must attend a Volunteer Orientation class. The class includes a presentation about the history of the Placer SPCA, our Mission and Vision, animal success stories, and the many ways caring volunteers can make a difference in the lives of homeless animals. The class will conclude with a tour of the Roseville facility.
If you decide that the Placer SPCA is the right volunteer fit for you, you will be invited to complete a volunteer application. A $25 materials fee ($35 for junior teams) will be collected at this time, which will cover the cost of a t-shirt, name badge and all training materials needed for your volunteer service.
Please complete a volunteer application and bring it with you to orientation.
***Currently we do not have any orientations scheduled.***
Please check our website often for the next available orientation. If you would like to volunteer at our Thrift Store, please contact the store directly at (916) 782-2434.
Thank you so much for your patience and support!
